A CELEBRATION OF COLOR
“The Bloodbath”
“bloodbath, noun - an event or situation in which many people are killed in an extremely violent way” (Oxford).
Color is transformative.
Multiple colors may dazzle spectators and momentarily captivate them, but I chose a “less is more” approach, emphasizing one: red.
Red warped a sultry and sullen photo into a gruesome one. Natasha’s dark hair glooms over her into the red water, creating a marriage of horror and beauty.
Celebrations are cheery events by nature, red often represents happiness or romance, and baths are purifying rituals.
The color red in the context of this photo suggests the entire opposite, alluding to something grislier having transpired.
